That is a word
that you often hear in church - but not too many other
places! Basically it means to take of something that
actually belongs to someone else. As Christ-followers we
believe that everything we have comes from God. We are
supposed to take care of, and make the most use of, all that
God gives us to work with.
So
what does that have to do with Coastal?
God has been
good to Coastal, and we see that He is now calling us to
find a more permanent home for the Corporate Landing campus
and to purchase the Glenwood property. These needs require
at least $2 million to be fulfilled. That is beyond our own
ability to meet – but it is not beyond what God can do
through us!
What
is Coastal’s plan to meet these needs?
OUR
JOURNEY – A
three-year stewardship program that will build
relationships, grow new Christian leaders, and teach
Biblical principles of sacrificial giving.
Why
are we doing this now?
Our current
situation at each campus is temporary, and we need to take
steps now to solidify our foundation. Coastal has been
blessed with the use of the facilities at our two campuses,
and we believe that we’ve been good stewards of what God has
provided. But we also know we need to make our roots more
permanent in our community.
What
will we do with the money we raise during OUR JOURNEY?
For Corporate
Landing, we would use the resources from OUR JOURNEY
to convert an existing building into a worship and ministry
center that we could then lease and use seven days per
week. In future years we would hope to purchase a property
outright.
For Glenwood,
we would use the resources from OUR JOURNEY to
exercise the purchase option on the existing lease so that
we could own this site. In future years we would hope to
expand the facilities and parking on this site to allow for
further growth.
What
if OUR JOURNEY doesn’t raise all the money to meet these
needs?
God always
provides what we need exactly when we need it. OUR
JOURNEY concentrates on the next three
years of Coastal’s stewardship journey. No matter what
we are able to raise, we will use it faithfully to fulfill
God’s plans for Coastal and adjust our plans to live within
our means.
Can I
contribute to the needs of just one Coastal campus?
Coastal
Community Church has always prided itself on being one
church, and OUR JOURNEY will be no different.
Our needs are united into a single program because we see
God at work as “One Church...Many Places.” We will not be
tracking pledges and contributions by campus.
Will
the resources we raise be spent equally between the two
campuses?
Not to the penny, but in
roughly equal measure. The needs of our campuses at this
time are about the same – approximately $1 million each –though the timing and urgency of those needs are
different. Also, the Advisory Team recognizes that both
campuses benefit from the ministries at each site, and the
outcome of investing in each campus is the same – God is
lifted up and Coastal’s mission to make more and better
followers of Christ is fulfilled.
Why
don’t we just come together at a single site and invest
everything in that one place?
Around the
United States, God is using the multi-site model as an
effective way to grow His church in this generation.
Coastal’s journey as a multi-site church has been successful
in reaching more lives for Jesus. Our vision is that we
will continue to grow in the future by adding even more
sites!
I may
have to move in a couple of years – can I make a commitment
for less than three years?
Yes. While we
would hope everyone could make a three-year commitment of
equal monthly giving, we know that each person’s
circumstances are unique. Pledge what God calls you to
give, in the way He leads you to make that commitment.
What
is expected of me?
Join us
OUR JOURNEY! You – not the buildings – are the
church. Seek God’s will by praying, “Lord, what would
you do through me to accomplish Your will at Coastal?”
