BIBLE FOR DUMMIES

“How We Use It”

March 5, 2006

"The whole Bible was given to us by inspiration from God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives; it straightens us out and

helps us to do what is right. It is God's way of making us well prepared at every point, fully equipped to do good to everyone."                     2 Timothy 3:16-17 (Living Bible)

***(PLEASE KEEP THE REST OF THE FRONT BLANK SO THAT THE TEACHING PASTOR CAN GET PEOPLE TO TRACE THEIR HANDS THERE)***

SIX WAYS TO GET A ‘GRASP' ON YOUR BIBLE:

  1. Hear God’s Word

"Faith comes from hearing the Word of God."       Romans 10:17 (NIV)

  1. Read God’s Word

"Happy is the one who reads this book and obeys what is written in it."      Revelation 1:3 (NIV)

  1. Study God’s Word

“The people there were more open-minded than the people in Thessalonica. They listened to the message with great eagerness, and every day they studied the Scriptures

to see if what Paul said was really true.” Acts 17:11 (TEV)

  1. Meditate on God’s Word

“Do not let this Book of the Law depart from your mouth; meditate on it day and night, so that you may be careful to do everything written in it.  Then you will be

prosperous and successful.”          Joshua 1:8 (NIV)

  1. Discuss God’s Word

“These commandments that I give you today are to be upon your hearts.  Impress them on your children.  Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk

along the road, when you lie down and when you get up.”          Deuteronomy 6:6-7 (NIV)

  1. Apply God’s Word

"Now that you know these things, do them.  That is the path of blessing."      John 13:17 (Living Bible)
